Francisco Badillo

Francisco graduated from Service High, here in Anchorage, and he is currently attending the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is pursuing a degree in both Music Performance & Music Education. Francisco keeps busy playing the Mexican vihuela in a local Mariachi band and also teaches Mariachi camps. Francisco is fluent in English & Spanish and marches in the Anchorage 4th of July Parade with the Red, White and Blue Marching Band.

Derek Delgado

Derek grew up in Anchorage and began his career as a pianist when he was 7 years old. Over the years Derek has performed in many piano competitions, received piano scholarships, and excelled in piano performance. Derek enjoys playing and teaching all types of music including classical, rock, pop, blues and jazz. After earning his music degree from UAA in 2006 Derek taught music classes for the university and the Anchorage School District. In 2008, Derek earned a Masters in Piano Performance from Western Washington University. In addition to studying and teaching the piano, Derek enjoys composing, songwriting and creating electronic music on his computer.

Wendy McCabe

Instruments:
Begin-Intermediate Piano, Guitar & Violin; Begin-Advanced Drums & Woodwinds; Beginner Bass Guitar

Wendy Started playing clarinet at the age of 10.  She loved it so much she picked up the piano and self-taught herself organ.  Shortly thereafter she took up percussion lessons, followed by Alto saxophone.  Jazz was something she truly loved and wanted to be in the jazz band.  Wendy graduated from New Jersey State University 1993 with a degree in Music Education.  Professionally she has performed, with Blood, Sweat and Tears, SNL, Mick Jagger's band mates, Blues Brothers,  Winton Marsalis, Duffy Jackson, Lou Marinni, Steve Turre, and various other musicians.  She has also played for a number of Broadway musicals and has worked for a number of universities and professional theaters throughout the country. She has the ability to engage each student at their individual level & pace, and wants to bring her love of music into their life. Wendy is retired military family and loves her home here in Alaska.

  • Adjunct Professor at Gordon College.

Michael Sutton

Instruments:
Beginning to Advanced Piano, Voice & Violin; Beginning to Intermediate Guitar

Michael graduated cum laude with departmental honors in 2020 from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Music degree in education. Michael has extensive experience as a singer performing both solo and ensemble repertoire. He has served as a piano accompanist to many different ensembles and has also performed solo piano as well. He enjoys arranging and conducting ensemble music for choirs and looks forward to directing his own group of singers.

Background:

  • - 2011-Present : Church choirs, high school choir, and University Singers at UAA.
  • - 2015-Present : Soloist performing Bass/Baritone repertoire.
  • - 2016-Present : Music theory tutor at UAA, as well as private voice/piano/violin instruction.
  • - 2013-Present : Piano Accompanist for various ensembles and performers.

Ian Worthington

Ian is an accomplished musician playing a variety of instruments including: cello, piano, guitar and bass for the past 19 years. He grew up in Anchorage and graduated from Polaris K-12 School. Ian has taught both private lessons and group classes at Anchorage Music & Dance Center since 2009. He has been performing music, both in groups and solo, for the last 15 years. Ian was a member of "Bolt Action Beaver", a local band he wrote and performs original songs. He is currently a member of the band, Smile Ease.

Hannah Soplanda

Instruments: Beginning Piano; Beginning to Advanced Voice; Beginning Ukulele

Hannah was born and raised on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula. She graduated high school from Ninilchik High School. While there she participated in band and choir for four years. She also actively sang in her church's ensemble during high school. Hannah has currently attended UAA for three years studying music with voice as her main instrument. While there she gained experience with solo performing. Hannah is still very active with UAA's Music Department and sings in ensembles under the direction of Dr. Mari Hahn.

Anchorage Music & Dance Center is celebrating 25 years of private & group music instruction and 10 years of dance!

Convenient

We are a unique school offering quality private & group music and dance classes at one convenient location. Multiple students from the same family can take private or group music lessons and dance classes on the same day. That means parents only have to drive to one location for everyone's lessons & classes. What a time saver for the entire family!

Homeschoolers

We work with most all homeschool & charter schools in the State of Alaska. We are a direct bill vendor which means we invoice the school, so there is no "out-of-pocket" expense for the family!

Our network of schools include: Family Partnership; Frontier Charter School; PAIDEIA; IDEA; Mat-Su Central; Twindly Bridge; Denali Peak, PACE, CyberLynx & Raven.
