Our Dance Teachers
Instructors

Our instructors have danced professionally and taught dance classes around the world. Each one has extensive teaching experience including: University level programs; High school & middle school classes & productions; & Preschool dance classes. They also have choreographed professional shows; founded non-profit dance collectives and participated in dance competitions.

Elizabeth Andres

Elizabeth is in her 20th year of dance, and is a recent transplant to Alaska. A native of the Midwest, she studied dance at Gustavus Adolphus College, where she received a Minor in Dance, and studied as an apprentice with the Gustavus Dance Company. While dancing at Gustavus, Elizabeth also had the pleasure of choreographing and performing alongside many talented dancers and instructors, may of whom continue to perform in the Minneapolis/St. Paul arts community. Maria Gomez Tierney, Sue Gunness, and Jill & Judy Howard are just a few of the instructors and choreographers who have inspired and challenged her to express herself through dance.

Elizabeth teaches Preschool Movement, Kindergarten Ballet, Beginning Ballet, Ballet I and Beginning Tap. As an instructor, Elizabeth focuses on fundamental dance vocabulary, proper posture and body positioning, and encouraging her students to try their hardest to reach their goals!

Hannah Gauthier

Hannah has been dancing for eleven years. Hannah started dancing in Florida at ten, and continued through high school with Dancers Workshop in Alaska when she moved here at seventeen. Hannah will graduate the University of Alaska, Anchorage with a B.S. in Dance Therapy, and a Minor in Dance in 2011. As a UAA Dance Ensemble Alumni, Hannnah had the opportunity to attend the American College Dance Festival Association in 2009, in Ogden, Utah, as well as choreograph a solo for UAA New Dances in 2010. Hannah has experience in many different dance forms including: modern; lyrical; ballet; contemporary; hip-hop; jazz; musical theater, improvisation and African. She has worked with choreographers such as Leslie Kimiko Ward, Noemia Reis Howell, Katherine Kramer, Brian Jeffery, Kristen Vierthaler & Melissa Jabaay. In addition to being the lead teacher for Anchorage Music & Dance Center's Performing Arts Kindergarten program, Hannah also teaches: Musical Theatre; Beginning Hip Hop; Modern/Lyrical Combo & Modern/Ballet Combo here each week.

Bonnie Moring

Bonnie Moring loves to dance, and especially loves to share her talent with young students. Bonnie graduated West High here in Anchorage, and plans to graduate from the University of Alaska Anchorage with a Major in Accounting and a Minor in Dance. She has taught many of Anchorage's young dancers at West High, Music Machine & Dance Spectrum Alaska. She has worked with Lori Bradford, Janet Carr-Campbell, Gail Florio & Barbara Clausen.

While Bonnie enjoys teaching jazz, tap, ballet & gymnastics, her favorite class is hip-hop. Bonnie is excited to work with the students at Anchorage Music & Dance Center and teaches: Kindergarten Hip-Hop; Hip-Hop I; Hip-Hop Intermediate; & Introduction to Tumbling.

Noemia Reis-Howell

Noemia Reis-Howell is from Salvador, Brazil, and began her dance studies in 1985. She graduated from University de Danca Da Fundacao Cultural of Bahia with a degree in dance, teacher and choreographer in 1992. Noemia has a strong foundation in classical ballet, and studied and performed African, Modern, Jazz, Contemporary, Afro-Modern, Brazilian folk dances including Orixas dances, Samba and Capoeira. Noemia has studied and danced with professional dance companies in Brazil, Spain and Germany, and toured professionally in United States, Europe, Thailand, Bangkok, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, Venezuela as well as Brazil.

Since moving to Alaska in 2000, Noemia has taught and choreographed for many Dance Companies, Elementary and High Schools, Universities in Alaska with UAA and Alaska Pacific University. She is a faculty member at UAA, Department of Theatre and Dance, Children's Dance Theatre, and Anchorage School District. She is also Artistic Director the Alaska Odyssey Dance Company in the Matsu Valley. She has also performed in the community numerous times. Noemia has great passion and boundless enthusiasm for dance. Her tremendous energy, discipline, and work ethic have made her a world-class dancer. We are lucky to have Noemia teach the following classes: Kindergarten Jazz; Beginning Jazz; Jazz I; Modern/Afro Fusion Combo & Teen Ballet & Movement.
